Enamel on the Line

Friday, Jan 17 through Sunday, Jan 19, 2025

9:30 am - 4:30 pm EST

Lighthouse Art Center, 373 Tequesta Dr, Tequesta, FL

Working with wire and enamel, this workshop will explore the boundaries that those two materials collaborate best within. Iron, copper and fine silver will all be used as a base for the application of ground and wet process enamels. Participants can expect to learn some basic wire working techniques and how to properly prepare the metal to have enamel applied. For the enameling aspect of the course, I’ll demonstrate and discuss the preparation of the enamels and the nuances of these beginning steps. You can expect to finish the course with an understanding of how you can apply the information and techniques presented to your own work and style.

Transparent Jewelry

Friday, February 21st – Sunday, February 23rd  2025

10:00 am – 4:00 pm, EST

Boca Raton Museum Art School

801 W Palmetto Park Rd, Boca Raton, FL 33486

Create transparent components for your jewelry to make invisible pieces you can’t take your eyes off. This workshop focuses on sculpting and shaping acrylic, as well as mark making, surface textures, and polishing. Acrylic has 10 times the durability with only 50% the weight of glass, and its warm feel makes it the perfect medium for the body. Join me in beautiful Boca Raton, Florida, to explore this unique material and its amazing optical properties. Experiment with acrylic through hand-shaping to create a unique transparent pendant. Students will learn reductive carving techniques and mark making on solid acrylic blanks. Conquering the challenges of this complex material will strengthen your jewelry finishing skills and hone your eye for detail. Experience working with a flex-shaft is highly encouraged to get the most from this workshop experience. I look forward to sharing my expertise from 20 years working with this dynamic material.
